Helle Monne is an audiovisual artist working primarily in film and site-specific installations. Her practice centers around themes of connection, memory, and nature, often exploring the tension between the familiar and the alien. By combining documentary elements with abstract visual language, she invites viewers into a dialogue between the known and the strange, emphasizing how these shifting perspectives shape our understanding of each other and the (natural) world around us.

Initially studying conflict studies, her work remains informed by an interest in societal dynamics, human connection, and climate change. This foundation in the social sciences inspires her ongoing exploration of how personal and collective memories inform identity. She is especially drawn to how memory—both shared and individual—shapes interactions between people and places.

Helle Monne’s work experience extends to working in art galleries, where she developed an appreciation for the power of curation and the art of storytelling within physical spaces. Over the past two years, she has served as an executive producer on several film projects, balancing creative vision with production demands. In 2024, she produced and curated DOEK!, an art and film festival during which films where projected onto the sails of historic ships, transforming the inner city of Schiedam into a stage for visual storytelling.

Helle Monne is currently in her final year of the Master of Film at the Koninklijke
Academie van Schone Kunsten (KASK), and living and working in Ghent, Belgium.
